American Airlines gave $200,000 to Green Door Behavioral Health in recognition of Will Ris, a member of the Green Door Behavioral Health Board who is retiring from the American Airlines’ Washington, DC office after 20 years of service. Green Door assists people in the Washington, DC area who have mental health challenges because of substance abuse. The majority of the people who use Green Door Behavioral’s services live either at or below the poverty line.

“Each of us at American Airlines has been impacted by Will’s advocacy for nearly 20 years. He understands commercial aviation and cares deeply about our frontline professionals,” said Doug Parker, chairman and CEO of American Airlines. “His passion for American is matched only by his genuine love for Green Door Behavioral Health, its mission and, most importantly, the people that are helped by their work. We are honored to make this donation in honor of Will who, throughout his career, has done so much for so many.”

Will Ris will remain on the board for Green Door and has served in the organization in various capacities. He is currently co-chairing the committee for Green Door’s 40th Anniversary Gala.
