Beautiful Miami was hit hard by Hurricane Irma this week. Some of the most luxurious areas in my own hometown were hit the hardest. The Baller Wives in Miami themselves posted some images post Hurricane Irma on their social network accounts. They all seem to be okay!

If you are looking for something to do at the last minute, and you are in or around Miami, head out to Calle Ocho. The Calle Ocho Music Festival is held at the end of Miami’s Carnaval.

Chino and Nacho by Diariocritico de Venezuela

This year, Chino and Nacho are the kings of Calle Ocho. They will perform at 4 p.m. on the Main Stage on 8th Street. Other performers on the main stage include, Grupo Treo at 2 p.m., Reykon at 3 p.m. and Ivy Queen at 5 p.m. There are dozens of other performance scheduled. You can see the full schedule here.

The Mandarin Oriental Miami Earns Five Stars in Three Categories

The Mandarin Oriental Miami earned the Forbes Five Star designation in three categories, a first for Mandarin Hotels. This luxury hotel in Miami earned a Five-Star award for its spa, the hotel’s restaurant, the Azul restaurant and for the hotel, overall. Although it is not the only hotel in Miami to earn the Five Star hotel designation this year, the Mandarin Oriental is the only Florida hotel to earn five stars – triple stars — across three major categories. The Acqualina Resort and Spa in Miami was the second Miami hotel to join Forbes’ coveted list of Five Star hotels, according to Forbes’ Travel Guide the two hotels have not earned Five Star Awards since 1996.

The Mandarin Oriental is a contemporary beachfront hotel with 326 rooms and suites. In addition to the Azul restaurant, the Miami luxury hotel offers a second eatery, a bar, and the Mandarin Oriental Spa, which spans three levels. The resort offers guests the services of the Oasis Beach Club, business facilities, and a boutique, the Shanghai Tang.

Forbes Travel Guide bestows the Five Star designation to entities that meet specific guidelines that would label the properties as the best in the world. Forbes Travel Guide recently announced that it will reveal reports that Forbes Travel Guide Inspectors create after they visit properties, according to an article in Hotel Interactive. Before the change, Forbes Travel Guide was not as transparent. The property executives did not know why their resorts received certain earned designations. This change will allow all of the properties, including luxury and budget properties, to have details that they could use to improve weak areas and enhance strong points.
