Some of the characters from beloved Charles Dickens novels, include Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim and Jacob Marley from A Christmas Carol and Fagin from Oliver Twist.

The festival will also include a sing-along event in which everyone who wishes to participate, will sing Christmas carols on the town square. On the streets hungry visitors and town locals will find vendors with old-fashioned food. Speaking of food, visitors can try actual sugar plums and roasted chestnuts from the Victorian period. Of course, there’ll be horse drawn carriage rides, performances, and a crafts bazaar.

The Dickens of a Christmas street festival is held by the Heritage Foundation of Franklin & Williamson County, a non-profit group.

The luxurious Las Alamandas Resort in Costatalgere, Mexico has introduced a special that will include four nights in an ocean view suite, three gourmet meals a day, a family picnic on a private beach, an hour-long horseback ride, and transportation from either Puerto Vallarta or Manzanillo Airport. Targeted to families, the special also includes free meals and drinks for children who are under 12 years old and 50% off a suite for the kids. Rates start at $3,678.00 from March 15 to April 15.

The boutique resort is located on 1,500 acres between Vallarta and Manzanillo in Mexico. Las Almandas has 17 suites and seven villas with patios and terraces. Guests can opt to eat in their rooms, in the resort’s Oasis Restaurant, or they can have meals near the beach if they choose to have meals at the La Palapa Beach Club. Meals include fresh fish, caught by local fishermen, organic meats, and vegetables from the resort’s garden.

Families can play tennis on the resort’s lighted course, play beach volleyball, ping pong, croquet, basketball, ride horses, or enjoy the 60-foot swimming pool. Las Alamandas has an air-conditioned gym and a lounge with a big-screened TV.
