The Dickens of a Christmas Festival takes place on December 12-13, 2015 on Main Street of Historic Downtown Franklin in Tennessee from 10 a.m. to to 5 p.m, announced the Franklin/Williamson County CVB. About 200 characters from Charles Dickens’ novels, entertainers and dancers will grace the streets for thousands of visitors to the holiday bedazzled town.
Some of the characters from beloved Charles Dickens novels, include Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim and Jacob Marley from A Christmas Carol and Fagin from Oliver Twist.
The festival will also include a sing-along event in which everyone who wishes to participate, will sing Christmas carols on the town square. On the streets hungry visitors and town locals will find vendors with old-fashioned food. Speaking of food, visitors can try actual sugar plums and roasted chestnuts from the Victorian period. Of course, there’ll be horse drawn carriage rides, performances, and a crafts bazaar.
The Dickens of a Christmas street festival is held by the Heritage Foundation of Franklin & Williamson County, a non-profit group.
