The Keio Plaza Hotel in Tokyo will host an exhibit called “Enjoying Japan’s Traditional Girls’ Doll Festival“. The exhibit will take place from February to March 2016. It honors the Japanese event of praying for the happiness and future of girls, known as Hinamatsuri. The event is usually decorated with brightly colored ornaments and dolls that symbolize spring, because that is when the festival is held.
The exhibit at the Keio Plaza Hotel includes 6,000 brightly colored silk cloths, handwoven in the traditional Japanese style. The silk cloths have been knotted to demonstrate the traditional “musubi” knot tying and gift wrapping.
