The Bronner Brothers International Hair Show was in Atlanta from August 4 to 6th, and I was in the house at the Georgia World Congress Center on Sunday for the Super hero contest and the finale team barbering competition. The hair shows were amazing, and the exhibitions were fun to see.

This year’s show had 300 vendors and 100 classes, a comedy show, a concert, and several hair battles. About 30,000 people usually attend the event. As far as celebrities are concerned, I saw Just Brittany, Remy Ma, Papoose, and Dwight Eubanks (Real Housewives of Atlanta).

Just Brittany is a musical artist with hits like Mama Should’ve Told Me,  That’s My Sis, and more. I’ve watched her on the reality TV shows Love and Hip Hop Atlanta and Signed (she was Rick Ross’ protege).

What was it really like? It was hype.  It was loud, full of bustling people. Sometimes the stylists or models would parade through the conference room chanting, dancing or posing. So, that made the trade show an entertaining for a non-stylist. If you like to shop, you’ll see a lot of products to buy, not just hair products. T-shirts with sassy expressions, shoes, and clothes were for sale at a few of the booths.

Models with fabulous costumes and hair walked through the convention area. Visitors often asked them to pose for photographs, which helped market the stylists and salons.

Easy Tips for Attending the Bronner Brothers International Hair Show

This was my first time attending the hair show, and I learned a few handy tips that made it easy to get there. It was easy register for the hair show online. Just be sure to keep the QC code that you receive safe. I had mine saved on my phone, and I had it ready to show the attendant when I reached the counter. There was no line on Sunday; the show actually started on Saturday and continued through Monday.

Parking at the Bronner Brothers Hairshow in Atlanta

Parking could have been a hassel had I not read the parking information on the Bronner Brothers site. First of all, the Gold Parking is the closest to the C Building of the Georgia World Congress Center (where the events were held). This parking garage is literally right next to the C Building. If you pre-order your parking space before your arrive, you’ll receive a reservation through e-mail.

Parking was about $15, and I printed the reservation (which had another QC code for an attendant to scan). When I arrived to the Georgia World Congress Center, I presented my print-out. The parking deck attendant seemed relieved. She scanned my QC code, and I parked in an empty spot. Pre-paying for parking reserved my space and eliminated my apprehension of finding a parking space.  Locating the correct parking deck was a bit challenging since my GPS steered me  to the wrong  side of the road.  I ended up having to turn around. Other decks are a short walk to Building C, but you’ll be very happy if you reserve the Gold Parking Deck. There are no streets to cross. You merely walk next door.

What to Wear to the Bronner Brothers Hair Show in Atlanta

The hair show is held in Atlanta twice a year. I attended in the summer and it was hot, but it was chilly inside the Georgia World Congress Center. I wish that brought my matching jacket, especially for the night time events. Most of the ladies were wearing jeans and shorts. Dress comfortably. A lot of women wore sandals, but I wore some cute sneakers (and I was glad that I did). There was a lot of walking back and forth through that convention center.

If you can go back to your hotel and change, wear something that’s very casual for the daytime events, and you might want to change it up for the evening events. These events are still very casual. You can wear shorts, or jeans or whatever, but I recommend that you at least bring a light sweater or matching jacket. It might be hot and humid outside, but it could possibly be downright chilly inside.

Memorial Day Weekend in Atlanta

Come to Atlanta for the SoulFest 2018. Ledisi, Eric Benet, Anthony David, and Raheem Devaughn will perform on the first day of the festival on May 26, 2018.  Lalah Hathaway, Will Downing, Avery Sunshine and Eric Roberson are performing on the second day of the festival on May 27, 2018.

The Largest Memorial Parade

The largest Memorial Day Weekend Parade, the Little Neck Douglaston Parade in New York has been going strong for 90 years. This year, the 91st Parade starts at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 28 2018. The Breakers’ Resort Myrtle Beach is further down the beach, but you can’t beat the price for an oceanfront hotel. On April 27, 2018, it was advertised as being far under $100 a night.

Quite a bit of action took place on the Real Housewives of Atlanta when cast members went to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the grand opening of Peter Thomas’ Club One nightclub. First of all, Kenya Moore was invited to host the event, and her ex-boyfriend Matt Jordan was invited (and then uninvited).

Angry that his invite was snatched away, Matt apparently sent Kenya some threatening text messages. Then, he showed up at the event anyway, tried to talk to her, and slapped her driver (probably because the driver tried to intervene after Kenya called Matt unstable and made it clear that she didn’t want to talk to him).

Peter had also invited  Todd Tucker to the opening, but he didn’t invite his ex-wife, Cynthia Bailey. Cynthia, wanted to support his business endeavor, and didn’t want things to be awkward between them, so when Kenya invited her to come, she came along and offered to fill-in as the host just in case Kenya couldn’t make it there (for fear of Matt).

Despite the hoopla, everyone complimented Peter on his new business. Club One is an upscale club (shorts and other casual attire are not allowed).  The club opened in 2016.

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star, K. Michelle will is getting closer to opening her Puff and Petals restaurant, as described on the show, K. Michelle, My Life. According to recent reports, the lounge will offer organic hookah and more than 50 different drinks. It will be located in the Sweet Auburn area on Edgewood Ave.

 Puff will have about 30 seats in the restaurant area and another 10 in the bar. Anyone who traveled to downtown or midtown Atlanta knows that parking can be hit or miss.
