The Philadelphia City Council approved a stadium complex which will include a stadium, casino and resort. The package was approved 14-0. The planned Vegas-style casino will have more than 2,000 slot machines and 125 table games. A luxury hotel with at least 200 rooms, a spa, conference center, restaurants, and venues for live entertainment are all a part of the project.

The Stadium District Hotel and Casino project is expected to bring 3,000 new construction jobs and about 2,000 permanent jobs once the work has been completed. According to a release, the projected should stimulate Philadelphia’s economy by $2 billion.
Further, the Stadium District Hotel and Casino project will pump money into schools and the surrounding neighborhoods. The businesses associated with the stadium agreed to make contributions to the communities to the tune of $15 million.
