On the final leg of the Amazing Race, which aired at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, May 13, 3016 on CBS. The teams flew, Premium class from China to Los Angeles where they had to go to Angelus Plaza to get their clue. They had to jump off a tower and grab the clue which was dangling 170 feet off of the ground.

They had to leap and grab the clue. The Matt, of the Dancers got their clue on the first try. They were then transported by helicopter to Santa Barbara where they had to search for the clue among docked boats. It was onboard the Teresa Ann and being held by a fisherman. Tyler did the jump for Tyler and Korey. Sheri was so scared, she said Oh My God at least a dozen times. Sheri jumped and missed, but she was willing to do it again. Tyler missed, too.

She got it on the next try. The clue was placed closer and closer each time they jumped to get it, so they didn’t have to jump as far.
In Santa Barbara there appeared to be thousands of boats in the water. Dana and Matt were the first to get there, so they went out on a dinghy to search. Dana and Matt found the clue with no problems, and read that they had to go to and find their next clue.
First Sheri and Cole thought the Teresa Anne was a museum and they went right by the boat. Dana and Matt let their taxi go, so they had to wait for another one. Meanwhile Sheri and Cole figured out that they were looking for a boat and not a museum. Sheri spotted it first. “Cole, Teresa Anna!” she yelled. They passed it twice, and finally grabbed it from the fisherman. Sheri and Cole had their taxi waiting for them, but the driver didn’t know where Gibraltar Rock was. Tyler and Korey took the taxi that Sheri and Cole discarded, and she still didn’t know where she was going, even when they gave her Google Maps.
Dana and Matt found a taxi first, and made it to the rock. Their clue asked them if they were ready to do some Mountaineering. Rising 1200 feet over Rattlesnake Canyon. One teammate had to use his or her arms to climb across the mountains and get half of their clue. Their partner will lower his/her teammate. When they are both down on the ground, they will get the second part of their clue.
Sheri and Cole were on their heels, and once Dana and Matt had their clue, Sheri and Cole was right there at the rock. Tyler and Korey were still trying to get their taxi driver to go the right way.

Dana and Matt finished the rock climbing and their clue told them to go to the Grassini Family Vineyards. They got there, but they couldn’t find the clues, sticking out of a bale of hay. Their clue told them to put all of the places that they visited in order with their hashtags. Dana did the Roadblock.
And she completed it in record time, but they couldn’t find the Pit Stop. Cole came up and worked on the destinations. He knew them all. Meanwhile, Dana and Matt found the lake where Phil and the other racers were waiting for them. They won $1 million. Sheri and Cole finished second.

The teams finally left from Indonesia and headed to Shenzhen, China in Season 28, Episode 11 of the Amazing Race. The That’s Money, Honey episode aired at 8 p.m. on May 6, 2016 on CBS.

Shenzhen is China’s first special economic zone Phil said. The area grew from a small fishing village to a major economic powerhouse in 35 years. The teams were to find their next clue in the departure hall of the airport. Tyler & Korey, the winners of the last leg of the Amazing Race, were the first to leave.

Cole said that he knew nothing about China; he had been to China Town in Alabama, but he didn’t think was the same. His mother, Sheri agreed. All of the teams were in the travel agent’s office at the same time, and they all were able to get the 1:45 flight to Shenzhen.

When they arrived, most of the teams teams found the clue in the departure hall of airport in China. While in the airport, Matt suggested that they hide their clues, so Sheri & Cole wouldn’t know that they had found it. “Just be discreet in case you see any other teams,” Matt said.

“Hide your clues,” Tyler told Korey. (glasses)

Sheri & Cole had the most trouble in the airport in China. They couldn’t find the departure hall where the clue was located and opted instead to exchange money. They didn’t know that Tyler & Korey already had their clues. When they asked them if they had found their clue, they said they didn’t find it. Then Burnie came around holding his clue in his hand and totally blew their cover. “Is the Departure Hall in the third floor,” Sheri asked. “Fourth Floor, Burnie replied.

“Thank you,” Sheri said, cheerfully.

The clue told them to find the Eiffel Tower, which was in the Window of the World. So, they made their way by bus and train to the Eiffel Tower. On the bus, Tyler and Korey were saying that it was time for Sheri and Cole to go. Meanwhile the airport, The mother and son, realized that Korey and Tyler had lied to them and said that they hadn’t found their clue yet.

All of the Amazing Race racers went to the train station where they had to buy tickets and make their way to Window of the World. Cole and Sheri missed their train to get to there.

Roadblock: It’s A Small World

Tyler and Korey, currently in first place, were the first to get the next clue. Phil explained that over 130 landmarks are at the huge theme park, Window of the World, where Chinese visitors can experience tourist attractions in their own backyard. The teams had to solve location puzzles on stickers throughout the park, and collect photos of the famous places.

An immigration officer will stamp each correct answer. When they have all of the answers, they’ll have their next clue.

“Going into this leg, we knew Burnie and Ashley were a threat,” Korey said.

So, Tyler and Korey worked with Dana and Matt to solve the clues.

Then Sheri & Cole showed up. Sheri was participating in the Road Block for her team. She read the clues and was perplexed. “Reenactments of famous battles? I just don’t know,” she said.

“The head of a lion and the body of a fish? I have no idea, honestly,” Sheri said standing in the amusement with a confused look on her face.

Burnie sabotaged the clues. He was ahead of Tyler & Dana, who were still working together.

“They’re still looking. “Good,” Burnie said. “That makes me happy. A couple of jackasses working together. I’m doing better by myself.”

Tyler & Dana went to the passport representative in the amusement park to see if they had all of the clues solved. There was one incorrect answer. It was the palace.

“The palace was wrong. That’s the only one that we didn’t know,” Dana said.

Burnie got his clue first. The clue told him to make his way by subway to Lychee Park.

Tyler got the last clue and and the photo that he needed to get his clue from the agent. The passport agent stamped his passport. He was so happy that he hugged Dana.

And then there was one, Cole said standing alone, as the other teams headed off.

“That was so much running.” Burnie said. “I went around the world eight times.”

And Sheri was still lost in the amusement park. She found some people in the park to help her find the statue with the head of a lion and a body of a fish.

In another location, Tyler & Cole, Burnie & Ashley, and Matt and Dana were running through the park, trying to find the Moon Bridge in Lychee Park.

They found it near some musicians playing traditional Chinese music.

Next, Phil said that they teams were to decide if they were going to take a modern commute or deliver art to a Shenzhen gallery.

Detour: Commuter Cycle

With nothing to hold on to, except a briefcase, they had to master Commuter Cycle, and simulate taking it to work. The teams changed into business suites for this detour.

Detour: Master of Arts

The Dalfen Oil Painting Village is known as one of the largest mass producers of oil paintings in the world, Phil said. At one point, there would be 10,000 master painters working there at any given time. They had to find a painter with a marked paint brush, who would give them a set a paintings to deliver to a gallery, where they had to hang them to exact specifications.

Korey & Tyler and Dana & Matt did the art gallery detour right from the start. Burnie & Ashley tried to ride the Commuter Cycles.

And both teams failed to get their paintings to pass after the first try. The spacing wasn’t right.

Burnie & Ashley couldn’t get the hang of riding the commuter cycle, so they switched to the Master of Arts detour. Cole was confident that they could ride the commuter cycle. He said that he was athletic; he could skateboard. He would talk his Mom through it. When he got there and saw the commuter cycles he instantly regretted his decision.

So, Burnie & Ashley were trying to find the painter with the marked paint brush. Tyler & Korey were the first to have their painting accepted. Their clue told them to go to the Pit Stop, Shenzhen Library Terrace.

Dana & Matt had their painting approved after Tyler & Korey.

Burnie & Ashley had trouble finding the gallery.

And Cole & Sheri were riding those commuter cycles. “My mom was better at it than me.”

Then it started raining on them, but they didn’t give up.

Tyler & Korey were the first to arrive at the Pit Stop, and they became one of the three teams to race for $1 million. Dana & Matt were second to the Pit Stop with a huge pink dancing dragon to greet them.

Burnie & Ashley finished hanging their painting.

Sheri and Cole kept falling off their commuter cycles, but they completed the challenge successfully. When they arrived at their destination, they were given the combination to their suitcases, which contained the clue.

They stayed hopeful although they were in last place, and they knew it. Cole said that there had been plenty of times when they thought they were out, when they were not out.

It turns out that Burnie & Ashley had trouble finding the Pit Stop, so there was a nail-biting, heart-pounding race to the finish. Who was going to make it to Phil first? Will Sheri & Cole, the underdogs who were behind for this entire leg make it in first or Burnie & Ashley, the trash-talking (Burnie) yet strong team?

In one absolutely shocking moment, Sheri & Cole appeared. They made it to the Pit Stop before Burnie & Ashley, and Burnie & Ashley were eliminated.

“We were riding those unicycles for like three years!” Cole said, still surprised.

“It is enormously disappointing not to not make it to the final, final leg of the Amazing Race,” Burnie said. “We just had a classic bad day on the race, and you can’t do that this late in the game.”

“It was one of the most restful nights I’ve had on the entire race, slowly being rocked back and forth, hearing Brodie snore,” Burnie said.

Tyler & Korey, the first to leave, had to race to Nusa Lembongan. Their mission was to retrieve one of three underwater canisters that contained the clues. There were only two clues in each clue box, so it was advantageous to get to the boxes first.

When they arrived and made the dive, Cole did not recognize the clue on the first try, so he swam over to another box. Cole had admitted that he had never snorkeled before, and his mother hadn’t snorkeled in at least 20 years. There was no clue at all there. Cole wasted a little time before he realized that the first box he tried had the clue. The Dancers were also looking for a laminated clue, and they didn’t recognize that the canisters in the box contained the clue.

Next, the teams took taxis to the Pura Puseh Stairway where they had to find the dancing money and get their next clue. The had to wear traditional sarongs, race up the steep stairs, and find a dancing monkey (a man dressed as a monkey). There were also musicians and other dancers there. The monkey man had the clue, and he moved very quickly for a man in a monkey suit.

“Someone’s having a wicked party up at the top,” Ashley said when they made it to the stairs after Tyler and Korey.

The clue informed the teams of Detours: Haul or Harvest

In Harvest the teams had to take a traditional canoe out on the water and collect seaweed from the bottom. They then had to take the seaweed to the beach and spread the seaweed over a tarp to dry. There had to be enough seaweed to completely cover the tarp. After they had covered it sufficiently, they received seaweed facial cream to wear and their next clue.

Haul required the teams to carry 50 large and heavy coconuts and four chickens across a shaky, crowded suspension bridge. The trick was to get there early to select the easy-going chickens. The teams who showed up later had to contend with chickens that didn’t want to be caught or carried anywhere, ever. Burnie & Ashley, Matt & Dana, Sheri & Cole, Brodie & Kurt, and Korey & Tyler chose the Haul Detour.

Korey & Tyler were ahead of the other teams, and they knew that they needed to stay out in front to avoid being detoured.

“I hope it doesn’t kaka doodle doo doo on me,” Korey said.

Dana had the most difficult time trying to get the chickens to cooperate. Matt suggested that they carry the chickens two at a time, but Dana said that she only knew how to pick up chicken after it has been cooked; she certainly needed both hands to nab a chicken that was running for its life.

“She was in the coop, and I see her running around, trying to grab these chickens. They’re all running away. Finally she got one,” Matt said of Dana’s attempts to catch chickens.

She needed two hands to get just one, so Dana could only get one chicken at at time. Chasing down chickens was not the only challenge in this detour. The teams were dropping the coconuts left and right, and the shaky bridge didn’t make balancing the huge heavy coconuts any easier.

With the sun beaming down on them, Brodie complained that he was sweating so much that he couldn’t grip the coconuts, so they were slipping out of his hands. As the other teams crossed the narrow rickety bridge, it shook and his coconuts fell.

“There’s a U-Turn and we know there’s a target on our backs, so we had to make up some time,” Brodie said.

Korey & Tyler were the first to finish the Haul Detour.

They had to make their way Warug Sunrise to get to a Double U-Turn and their next clue. Two teams were able to U-Turn other teams.

One of the highlights of the game occurred when Korey & Tyler decided to Double U-Turn Brodie and Kurt.

“We love them, but if we want a chance at the finals, they’re the biggest threat. They’ve gotten the most number ones. We’ve got to do it,” Tyler said.

Brodie & Kurt had come in first so many times that they had secured their position as strong competitors, maybe the strongest competitors in this season of the Amazing Race. Almost immediately after they U-Turned Brodie & Kurt, Tyler & Korey had regrets.

They were afraid that maybe their Double U-Turn wouldn’t work and somehow Brodie & Kurt would come out unscathed and on the road to winning the whole thing.

If Brodie & Kurt managed to U-Turn another team, they could beat that team and save themselves. However, that scenario could be avoided, and the friends quickly figured it out.

“It was a Double U-Turn, but if somebody U-Turns Sheri and Cole or the Dancers, Brodie and Kurt could stay alive,” Korey said.

“If Burnie and Ashley were smart, they could U-Turn us, just so no one else could use it,” Korey said.

“If he did, that would be smart for every team,” Tyler added.

As Brodie & Kurt approached the U-Turn area, they prayed that they were U-Turned. “We feel like Burnie and Ashley would never U-Turn us, but Korey & Tyler are a mystery.”

The teams had another Roadblock. This Roadblock was designed to scare the daylights out of anyone terrified of heights. They had to get to Pande Curly Shop Stand Up Paddleboards on the beach in Mushroom Bay where they would find the paddleboards that they would use to get to the cliff in the Blue Lagoon. Once at their destination, they had to climb a ladder up the cliff called Jump Rock, and dive from four stories high into the Blue Lagoon. The teams were concerned about Cole and his crippling fear of heights. If he didn’t make the jump, Brodie & Kurt could possibly come up and pass them, allowing Brodie & Kurt to stay in the game and forcing Sheri and Cole out.

Tyler had to do the cliff diving, and when he saw the instructor, he said that the guy had “body for days.” The diving instructor stretched him out, and Tyler was more than compliant. Even Burnie said that the Amazing Race organizers must have given the ugly dive instructor a day off.

Burnie & Ashley U-Turned Tyler & Korey, and that effectively filled the board, keeping Brodie and Kurt from being able to U-Turn anyone. Brodie & Kurt had to do the Harvest Detour if they U-Turned.

The two hurried to finish harvesting seaweed to stay in the game. They slipped on the wet, sandy beach, canoed out to the marked area, and took as much of the seaweed as they could in just one trip.

Cole must have mustered all of strength and nerve, because as afraid as he was, he scaled the cliff, stood at the top at it, and took the free fall into the clear water below. “I’m like panicking because I’m scared of heights,” Cole said when he realized that he had to complete the dive instead of his mother.

Since Cole was able to complete cliff jump into the Blue Lagoon, his team was not last. Instead, the Goliaths themselves, Brody and Kurt were the last to meet Phil at the Bajra Sandhi and were eliminated from the race.

But Brodie and Kurt got their truck stuck in the sand and had to figure out how to get out, which took a little time, because they tried to use a backpack for friction. In time, they were on their way.

Next the teams had to choose their Detour, racing camels or oasis. For racing camels, the teams had to race the running camels while both team members rode bicycles for a 2 km stretch. Oasis included walking across the desert.

The camels in the Race Detour were not ordinary camels, they were actual racing camels, of course, and there was a truck with a screaming man urging the camel on. The camels could reach speeds of up to about 40 mph. Both members of each team had to beat the camel in a race to earn the clue. If they were not successful the first time, they were able to have a head-start and race again.

Kurt and Brodie made it to the Detour in time and were eventually able to beat the camels, but their legs were burning at the end.

For the Oasis Detour, the teams had to walk across the open desert for about a mile and lead four camels to a camp.

Next, the teams has a Roadblock. They had to make their way to Atlantis at the Palms and its Aquaventre waterpark.

Once at the Aquaventure waterpark, one team member had to get into a 750,000 gallon tank full of sharks and retrieve a puzzle at the bottom. That same person had to solve this tricky puzzle.

“We can’t just break it on floor and put it together? Because that would be a lot easier,” Dana said as she tried to manipulate the encapsulated puzzle in which the racers had to get the words, “Race” to appear in the glass capsule.

Once they solved the puzzle, they moved on to their next challenge. While wearing shiny gold disco-looking swimsuits, the racers had to slide down a new waterslide called Poseidon’s Revenge. It’s twice as long as the Leap of Faith waterslide. Each team member had to experience the ride.

“..it’s a little too much show here,” Kurt said of his tight gold swim trunks, “so I was very quick to get in the water to hide myself.”

Finally, they took water taxis across Dubai Creek to meet Phil at the Old Souq Station. Brodie and Kurt made it to the mat first and Burnie and Ashley were second. In last place was Sheri and her son Cole who got further behind when they got lost trying to get to the waterpark. They got lucky, because this leg of the race was a non-elimination leg.

The Hooping it Up in Manila episode of the Amazing Race Season 25, had a surprise ending, but I’ll get to that in a minute. First, the racers had to travel to a place called Rajah Sulayman Park. They all had to run and find a Jeepney to take them on their way.

Misti & Jim were worried because they felt as though this leg was that they had been actually subject to elimination, because they had the Save Pass, which would have enabled them to save themselves if they ever came in last. They didn’t even need the Save.

Padyak by Jun Acullador, CC

Meanwhile, since Brooke and Robbie came in last during the previous leg of the race. They had to complete a Speed Bump, loading a bunch of stuff from an empty padyak to a full one. All of the other teams had to take a jeepney at Paliparan Station to get to Rajah Sulayman Park. Misti & Jim and Maya & Amy rode in a jeepney together.

Bethany & Adam asked someone how to get the park instead of asking how to get to the park instead of asking for directions to the station, and Brooke & Robbie were about to get into a jeepney when they found out that it wasn’t going to he park. For this challenge, it was important to take the jeepney in the correct side of the road. Teams who took the jeepney on the wrong side of the road, ended up going the long way to the park.

This brings us back to the Dentists, Jim & Misti and the Food Scientists, Amy & Maya. They were all on the same jeepney, pleased as could be, because they were the first and second teams to leave, and they thought they were making great time getting to the park.

Adam & Bethany had arrived at the park. Their clue told them that they had to play basketball against two people from the Philippines, playing defense. They would get their next clue after they scored 21 points.

Brooke & Robbie were packing the padyak; they were struggling to remember how they had to pack it so everything could stay on it. “Brooke is a loose cannon, and if I become a loose cannon also, two loose cannons aren’t going to win the race,” Robbie said.

The teams had to choose between the detours, This and That. The surfers, Adam & Bethany were shooting hoops for the This detour, and Adam said that he felt like Shaq, because he couldn’t make any free throws. Bethany mentioned that she didn’t want to slow Adam down, so she felt nervous, but she loved the teamwork in the detours. It looked like they were really able to work together well in this and the previous detours. While shooting hoops, Bethany thew the ball to Adam who shot it.

In the That detour, the teams had to ride a padyak two laps around the city in under 55 seconds. One member rode the bike, while the other member sat in the side car. Brooke & Robbie chose This, the basketball detour. When Misti & Jim and Amy & Maya finally realized they were going the wrong way, they eventually got out of the jeepney they were in and took another jeepney in the right direction. They were now, the last two teams. Both teams chose That. So, the Scientists and the Dentists were both racing each other or trying to beat the clock at the same time. The first time that completed this challenge would have a head start over the other team, putting that team in third place.

Adam & Bethany finally got all 21 points and their clue told them to go to Santo Cristo Street and San Nicolas Street in Divisoria Market and find an Amazing Race jeepney. Brooke and Robbie got their clue right after Adam & Bethany; the Dentists were third.

Adam & Bethany lost their clue. They had been searching for it, but they still couldn’t find it when they arrived at the market. They remembered some of the information on the clue, but they couldn’t remember the cross street they needed to get to. It was evident that they were panicking inside. They needed that clue. They began to search, but they didn’t not argue with each other or anything.

So Adam & Bethany decided to head to the location, based on what they knew. Brooke & Robbie made it to the location first, but by the time they got there, Brooke was already overheated from the drive over in the hot taxi. Robbie made it to the market and found the marked jeepney, but the heat was impacting him, too. He said that he felt as though he was in a sauna. He didn’t look at his clue carefully. He grabbed the brooms and coconut shells that the clue told him to deliver to vendors, but he didn’t know where to go. He ran around in the heat looking for the delivery points, until he looked over his clue again and read that he had to go to the jeep and read the directions posted there.

Adam & Bethany looked for their clue again and found it in Adam’s backpack. Misti & Jim and completed the Detour and made it to the market jeepney first, however. Robbie saw where he needed to go, got to the delivery point for the first delivery of a coconut and traditional broom, but then realized that he didn’t have all of the items that he needed. It donned on him that at some of the locations he had to deliver more than one broom and coconut. All of the teams ran around trying to find the delivery points, while struggling to carry the items in the hot sun.

Amy & Maya were in last place, because they couldn’t find a taxi fast enough to get to the market. Amy was looking for their first delivery point when Robbie had completed his last delivery. Brooke & Robbie retrieved their clue first and took a taxi the Pit Stop. Adam turned in all three of his receipts after making all of the deliveries, so Adam & Bethany were in second place. Jim & Misti were in third.

By the time the scientists had finished making their last delivery, Amy’s face was flushed and she was clearly affected by the heat. Maya didn’t want her teammate to be sick in a hospital in the Philippines. She advised her to breath deeply and raise her hands up over her head.

Brooke and Robbie hurried to the Pit Stop. Brooke told people who were in the way that she was having a baby, so they’d clear a path for the two to make it to the Pit Stop. When they got there in first place, Phil told them that they’d followed in the footsteps of the Cowboys who also had a Roadblock and finished their leg in first place.

Here was the order for the finish in the Hooping it Up in Manila episode of the Amazing Race.

Brooke & Robbie

Adam & Bethany

Jim & Misti

Amy & Maya

Phil told Amy & Maya that they were not eliminated. For the first time in Amazing Race history, there would be four teams going to the finals. Maya couldn’t believe it at first. Then, she was too happy to contain her joy.
