American Airlines donated $100,000 to a local chapter of the American Red Cross to benefit people who were victimized  by recent tornadoes in Texas. American Airlines is also opening its websites up to donations, so the internet community and as well as its employees. AAdvantage members who donate will be given AAdvantage miles for their donations.

“The tornadoes that hit North Texas during the holiday weekend caused significant damage and impacted thousands of lives,” said Joe Taney, American’s vice president – DFW Hub Operations. “American and its employees stand ready to assist in the recovery efforts and we encourage our customers to join us by donating to the Red Cross.”

Eleven people were killed in Texas from deadly tornadoes that struck during the holiday season.Garland, Texas was one of the hardest hit areas. According to ABC news, at this point, at least 17 people have been killed in the South from the storm.
