Brooklyn’s New Years celebrations will include fireworks in Prospect Park at midnight to bring in 2016. The viewing areas include: the Grand Army Plaza, the Park’s West Drive, and the area along Prospect Park West between Grand Army Plaza and 9th Street. Prospect Park visitors are also invited to come out and support the live entertainment, the Brooklyn Mash It Up Band and DJC.
If you are brave, take a plunge with the Coney Island Polar Bear Club on New Years Day. The club will take their annual dip in the Atlantic Ocean at 1 p.m. on January 1, 2016. They will meet at the Stillwell Avenue Boardwalk. The public is invited to join them. There is a $20 suggested donation; donations will support Camp Sunshine, an organization that helps children who have critical diseases.
People who plan to attend should be sure to bring extra warm clothes, a towel, and old sneakers or snow boots for the plunge.
