If you are brave, take a plunge with the Coney Island Polar Bear Club on New Years Day. The club will take their annual dip in the Atlantic Ocean at 1 p.m. on January 1, 2016. They will meet at the Stillwell Avenue Boardwalk. The public is invited to join them. There is a $20 suggested donation; donations will support Camp Sunshine, an organization that helps children who have critical diseases.

People who plan to attend should be sure to bring extra warm clothes, a towel, and old sneakers or snow boots for the plunge.
