National Tulip Day in Amsterdam will be on January 16, 2016 on Dam Square. The day celebrates the first official day of the tulip season in Holland. Visitors are invited to come by and pick a bouquet of tulips for free.
There will be thousands of tulips available for the picking, thanks to the Dutch tulip growers who prepare the huge garden for National Tulip Day. Every year, the tulips create a gorgeous carpet of color for flower-lovers. Tulip season ends in April in Holland.
Dam Square is a bustling area in Amsterdam. It is only about five minutes away from Central Station.
After picking tulips on National Tulip Day, visitors can find ample eateries for refreshments and meals in the square. The square also has plenty of shops around for a little holiday shopping.
