The Bronner Brothers International Hair Show was in Atlanta from August 4 to 6th, and I was in the house at the Georgia World Congress Center on Sunday for the Super hero contest and the finale team barbering competition. The hair shows were amazing, and the exhibitions were fun to see.

This year’s show had 300 vendors and 100 classes, a comedy show, a concert, and several hair battles. About 30,000 people usually attend the event. As far as celebrities are concerned, I saw Just Brittany, Remy Ma, Papoose, and Dwight Eubanks (Real Housewives of Atlanta).

Just Brittany is a musical artist with hits like Mama Should’ve Told Me,  That’s My Sis, and more. I’ve watched her on the reality TV shows Love and Hip Hop Atlanta and Signed (she was Rick Ross’ protege).

What was it really like? It was hype.  It was loud, full of bustling people. Sometimes the stylists or models would parade through the conference room chanting, dancing or posing. So, that made the trade show an entertaining for a non-stylist. If you like to shop, you’ll see a lot of products to buy, not just hair products. T-shirts with sassy expressions, shoes, and clothes were for sale at a few of the booths.

Models with fabulous costumes and hair walked through the convention area. Visitors often asked them to pose for photographs, which helped market the stylists and salons.

The figure on the top of her head is made of hair. This look took the stylists hours and hours of work.

Easy Tips for Attending the Bronner Brothers International Hair Show

This was my first time attending the hair show, and I learned a few handy tips that made it easy to get there. It was easy register for the hair show online. Just be sure to keep the QC code that you receive safe. I had mine saved on my phone, and I had it ready to show the attendant when I reached the counter. There was no line on Sunday; the show actually started on Saturday and continued through Monday.

Parking at the Bronner Brothers Hairshow in Atlanta

Parking could have been a hassel had I not read the parking information on the Bronner Brothers site. First of all, the Gold Parking is the closest to the C Building of the Georgia World Congress Center (where the events were held). This parking garage is literally right next to the C Building. If you pre-order your parking space before your arrive, you’ll receive a reservation through e-mail.

Parking was about $15, and I printed the reservation (which had another QC code for an attendant to scan). When I arrived to the Georgia World Congress Center, I presented my print-out. The parking deck attendant seemed relieved. She scanned my QC code, and I parked in an empty spot. Pre-paying for parking reserved my space and eliminated my apprehension of finding a parking space.  Locating the correct parking deck was a bit challenging since my GPS steered me  to the wrong  side of the road.  I ended up having to turn around. Other decks are a short walk to Building C, but you’ll be very happy if you reserve the Gold Parking Deck. There are no streets to cross. You merely walk next door.

What to Wear to the Bronner Brothers Hair Show in Atlanta

The hair show is held in Atlanta twice a year. I attended in the summer and it was hot, but it was chilly inside the Georgia World Congress Center. I wish that brought my matching jacket, especially for the night time events. Most of the ladies were wearing jeans and shorts. Dress comfortably. A lot of women wore sandals, but I wore some cute sneakers (and I was glad that I did). There was a lot of walking back and forth through that convention center.

If you can go back to your hotel and change, wear something that’s very casual for the daytime events, and you might want to change it up for the evening events. These events are still very casual. You can wear shorts, or jeans or whatever, but I recommend that you at least bring a light sweater or matching jacket. It might be hot and humid outside, but it could possibly be downright chilly inside.

Want to see more of some of the New Edition members? Well, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivens, and Ronnie Devoe (Bell Bivens DeVoe) still have some BBD concert dates ahead, beginning in February 2017. The group have dates lined up in California, Louisiana, Colorado and Ohio.

Last fall, they announced an upcoming album, Three Stripes, to was released on January 27, 2017 after a 15-year break. They also debuted their video, Run, in 2016.

Bell, Biv, DeVoe have been busy. they’ve had a couple of performances in Alabama and Florida in 2016, in New York, California, and Florida in 2015, and sporadic performances at other venues over the years.

Here’s a little New Edition trivia. Did you know that the video for I’m Still in Love With You (1996) was filmed at Vizcaya in Miami?

If you recall from the movie, Michael Bivens really wanted to become a basketball player before joining the group. Well, in October 2016, Mike was honored by the dedication of  Roxbury basketball courts to him. The courts, located in his hometown of Boston, Mass., are called the Michael Bivens Basketball Courts and can be found in Derby Ramsey Park on Washington, Mike announced in his Instagram in 2016.

You might have been surprised when you saw Ronnie DeVoe taking a real estate class in the New Edition movie, but that’s no surprise to many Atlanta residents, because DeVoe  has a real estate company in Atlanta.

Chase McNary, 27, is a medical sales representative from Denver, Colorado. Chase wowed JoJo Fletcher by producing snow, as an homage from his hometown, during the cocktail party as they sat and talked together on the second week. He gave her some gloves to keep her warm.

On their subsequent one-on-one date, Chase and JoJo had a sexy yoga class together, which was probably more embarrassing for Chase than he let on, because of his religious beliefs.

JoJo liked 6’3” Chase because she felt safe and secure with him. She mentioned that after she’d known him for a week, she had already begun to feel close to him, and Chase said during this date, that he really was looking for the right woman to spend the rest of his life with.

Chase made the sweetest confession during his two-on-one date when he told JoJo that he had come to the Bachelorette to find her. JoJo had to make a decision between Chase and Derek during this date in Buenos Aires, Argentina. JoJo chose Chase over Derek, and Derek cried quite a bit during his limo ride away.

He enjoys a good view, while others enjoy his view.

Robby Hayes, is a 27-year-old sales representative for Myrtha Pools, a model, and a former competitive swimmer.  The 6’1″  Bachelorette Season 12 contestan (JoJo Fletcher is the Bachelorette) from Jacksonville, Florida was on the dive team for Florida State University where he was an All-American athlete.

He graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Real Estate and  is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Finance, Banking, Corporate, Finance, and Securities Law from the University of Miami.  Bachelorette hopeful Robby Hayes is a fraternity guy. He’s a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

In addition to swimming, Robby enjoys bowling, investing, boating, and investing. He’s a certified pool operator. Robby told JoJo that he loved her in Week 4, Season 12 of the Bachelorette.  In that same episode, he had a one-on-one date with JoJo  in Punta Este Uruguay. They took a leap of faith off of a cliff into the sea.

Robby and JoJo: In Week 6 of the Bachelorette, JoJo asked Robby to strip off his  clothes,down to his underwear, and that’s what he did.

Robby obviously  loves to travel.

Robby loves the holidays.

He cherishes his grandparents.

Robby is athletic. He swam for Florida State University and was a contender for the Olympics.

He is stylish.

He’s a gentleman.

Robby and JoJo shared a passionate kiss. Fans call them RoJo.

By profession, 29-year-old James Taylor or James McCoy Taylor is a singer/songwriter. The 6’2” Bachelorette contestant from Texas sung a song that he wrote for JoJo when he met her for the first time on the first day of JoJo’s season. Since then, James has danced with JoJo and has shared his opinions with her concerning Jordan, another one of JoJo’s top choices.  James also consoled JoJo when she read a damaging article from her ex that criticized her as a person.

On their second date, James Taylor revealed that when he was young, he was made fun of because of his appearance. JoJo reassured him that he was the whole package. James is still unwary about his looks compared to the other guys. He has said that they all are muscular with chiseled faces and he seems to think that he doesn’t quite measure up to them as far as looks as concerned, but he’s made it clear that he’s honest and could give JoJo stability.

James Taylor is not afraid to turn on the romance.
