Visit Orlando has announced new family-friendly attractions and expansions for 2016 in the Orlando, Florida area.

Skull Island: The Reign of Kong, a new attraction at Universal Studios Orlando will wow visitors with its ancient structures and fighting natives. Guests will ride in cars that will guide them through the attraction to get the full experience. The attraction is a tribute to King Kong movies.

Mako, when it opens at SeaWorld Orlando in the spring of 2016 will be the longest and fastest ride in Orlando. The ride will reach 72 miles per hour and it will be 200-feet tall. The ride is named after a shark. A mako is one of the fastest sharks in the world, and the ride will feature a shark theme throughout it.

Loews Hotels and Resorts and Universal Studios Orlando have planned to build a new resort, Loews Sapphire Falls Resort. Located on the grounds of Universal Studios Orlando, the resort will boast 1,000 rooms and suites. Loews Sapphire Falls Resort, designed with a Caribbean theme, will be built around a lagoon and a waterfall to give guests great views and a sense of tranquility.

“Frozen Ever After,” giving visitors the chance to experience the beauty of an icy fantasy land, will open in the Norway Pavilion of Epcot Center. For this ride, visitors will take a boat through the attraction and learn about the royal sisters in the story.

Soaring Around the World, is yet another attraction at Epcot. This attraction will fly guests to simulated natural and manmade places throughout the world.

The Sunset Kilimanjaro Safari, located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be expanded into a night-time adventure. When visitors ride on the attraction, they would be able to see by the setting sun, which is simulated in the attraction. The Sunset Kilimanjaro Safari will introduce them to hyenas and wild dogs (two animals that usually come out at night.

Rivers of Light combines light with water, animated animals, and beautiful lanterns for a magical experience. River of Light can be seen at Discovery River in Disney’s Animal Kingdom this year.

At LEGOLAND the LEGO® Movie™ 4D, A New Adventure will premiere later this month on January 29, 2016. The 4D movie will include characters from the Lego Movie. Special effects, like wind and water, will bring the movie to life.
