The yearly pop-up restaurant RAW: almond opens from January 25th to February 14th 2016 in Winnipeg, Canada This temporary restaurant sits on the frozen Assiniboine and Red rivers in the middle of the winter. Visitors will find it in the Forks, a popular meeting place and tourist attraction. The award-winning Winnipeg restaurant has three sittings of 40 people every night for diner. Culinary fans don their down-filled parkas, warm hats, and sub-zero snow boots to experience the meals that change each night that the restaurant is open.
No one knows what they are going to eat until they have a seat at the communal table. Past meals have included bison tartare flavoured with dried salsa and duck perogies sprinkled with duck prosciutto. Dinner tickets are $120, available beginning on December 14, 2015 on the RAW: almond website. Brunch is available on the weekends for $25 cash.
